While doing a search for real estate this week on the web, I happend to see that our first house we ever bought, 3270 Ozark Circle, Chattanooga, TN is listed for sale. Below is a photo of the house As we knew it (faded photography and all :) You can click on the link to see it today. Much improved!

BEFORE, CIRCA 1972

AFTER, CIRCA 2008

That brought back many memories. I remembered that the first house we looked at, not this one, which we really, really wanted, cost $17,500 and we couldn't quite swing the payment on that. We were disappointed, but this little house came along at a 'much reduced' price of $15,500, and we, and our Realtor, thought this price would work.

Our oldest child, Jay, was 9 months old when we moved here. Joel, our second son, came as a new born.

Looking at the photos is really neat. I see they removed the horrible contact paper in the kitchen that I dumbly put up. What was I thinking? Somebody probably had to either put up new wallboard to get rid of it. I know that what I put up WASN'T strippable.

Also, someone covered over the heat grate in the hall where Jay fell a toddler and burned his hands. Yeah, for central heat and air!

Oh, and John's homemade tile job in the bathroom has been redone. We didn't have the benefit of HGTV then, OR Home Depot and Lowes. Where we got the idea we could decorate is beyond me. I guess we were so poor that we were desparate and went to the local hardware store for help.
