What a stink around town this week.....the new Tax Assessor Values were sent to all Henderson County homeowners.
Good news!!! The phones are ringing tirelessly. Most want to sell them homes!!! Well, you would think that's good news, right? Well, only if they can get what the Henderson County Property Assessor says their home is worth. Yeah, right!
No increase in tax rate for Henderson County may be true, but oh, you sneaky little County Officials, increase the value thus increasing the property taxes. Ummmm!
Some property owners have hired licensed appraisers to challenge the County property tax value. Not sure the outcome.
The biggest complaint I have heard has been there seems to be no consistency in the values. Neighbors talk and compare, so when your neighbor pays far less taxes than you for the same size home acoss the street, well, homeowners expect a reasonable explanation.
There has been so many complaints to the elected officials, a special called meeting is scheduled to hear resident concerns.
Henderson County homeowners should keep in mind, we have 8 county schools to maintain, a new jail, unpaved roads, and the list goes on and on!!! Tax dollars pay for most of these things!!!!
