It's a neighborhood in the widest skies and deepest depths of the Panhandle designed to appeal to those who love to fly. The developer Tully Currie has kept many of the natural aspects of the 4,000 acres of his Randall County, Currie family ranch that's been in the family since the late 1800s.

When standing on Farm-to-Market Road 1151, looking southward, the only cut you will see is in the prairie flat rim of the River Falls development. It is a long area that's been bulldozed for a future runway. And beyond the south end of the runway lies a large piece of Palo Duro Canyon, where the River Falls residential lots lay.

River Falls residential lots will start for $30,000 and top off around $500,000. These figures are influenced by acreage, location and scenic views. Currently, 28 homes occupy the development and another half dozen are in the works. There have also been 130 lots sold in the development.

Flying enthusiasts who want to live alongside the planned 6,000-foot runway have bought 20 of the lots so far. These lots include hangers and are connected to a taxiway so pilots can taxi between their homes and the runway.

To live in a flying community has to be a passion for anyone seeking a home in a development like the River Falls Fly-in development. But, it comes with its perks for those who love to fly and more. River Falls also contains well stocked ponds, an equestrian center and a shooting range. Plus, there's a club for everything in the community.

You can see some of River Falls homes at the Parade of Homes, which will be in Amarillo, Texas April 29 - May 2 and May 6 - May 9, Thursday and Friday from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. The event will feature 42 homes. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at Pak-A-Sak, United Supermarket and Market Street locations. You can also purchase tickets at the event.
