Austin TX best Hamburgers

This morning in the paper there was an article regarding bests places for the best burgers in Austin, TX and surrounding areas. They listed a few recipes along with them that I would like to share and I would like to add my favorite places for a hamburger. Now, I can tell you...I go for a regular cheese hamburger, I don't really like exotic meats on my burger all that much, but I would be willing to try just for grins.

First one they mentioned was a place called: Hopdoddy (which is fairly new to the market), the writer of the article said he had enjoyed a variety of burgers here, one of his favs was the Buffalo Bill Burger which consists of ground bison meat, blue cheese, bacon and a specialty hot sause. Hmmm, next was a Tuna Burger dressed in a light wasabi spread, a little teriyaki, sprouts and topped with fried/battered seaweed sheets to give it some crunch. I am not sure I am sold on this? He mentioned also a few past haunts of mine like, Hill-Bert's Burgers, Sandy's Custard and burgers, Nau's Enfield Drug Store (old time soda counter) and Top Notch. I wish Frisco's, Night Hawk and the Gas Station were still open, they had the best ever.

Next stop for me would be an old favorite of thousands of Austinites - a place called Dirties near the UT Campus. If you want a good ole greasy burger with a fresh bun, mayo/mustard and the salad, awesome fries and one of the thickest chocolate shake on the planet, this is your place. Then there is Hut's on 5th Street - who you could say invented the 1st gourmet burgers with many selections of toppings on a regular ground meat patty. Very tasty. Salt Grass, although it is a chain, they have fantastic burgers and my all time favorite in Round Rock, TX - Little Red Barn on Hwy. 79 OMG If you are feeling blue, stop eat a burger here, you will feel much better.
