Neighborhood Watch: Cedar Park, Texas

Cedar ParkNorth of Austin: Cedar Park is a rapidly growing major suburb northwest of Austin. In 1990, the population was only just over 5,000. Today, the population is over 62,000! So this area is quickly becoming a thriving city and point of industry in Central Texas. Many flocked to Cedar Park because of its affordability and charming nature in recent years, but studies have shown that this neighborhood has been continuously inhabited since 5000 BC. It was also home to many Native American tribes such as the Tonkawa, the Lipan Apache and the Comanche before the area was settled in the late 1800s.

Cedar Park is served by the Leander Independent School District. It is also home to the Cypress Creek campus of Austin Community College. In order to accomodate the rapidly expanding population, this campus recently underwent major construction to add more classrooms and parking (hear that, ACC students? Yes, there is ample parking in at least one of the campuses now!).

So what's the latest news for this area? Well, last month a vacant City Council seat was filled by community leader and local businessman, Tony Dale. Also, stage-2 water restrictions were recently lifted after recent rain fall and higher lake levels in Lake Travis meant that the restrictions were no longer necessary. And to kick off the Holiday Season, the town is putting on not one, but two holiday festivals: The 11th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, and Santa's Workshop.

The average list price for a house in Cedar Park is ~$274k, though the median sale price of a home is around ~$178k. Most homes are your average three bedroom single family home. Come to Cedar Park today to see if your future home could be here!
