Totally Recycled Gardening In The Brazos Valley

Gardening in Texas and in the Brazos Valley can be tough. Weather conditions can change overnight. In March when you put your garden in you never know if it will snow the next day or be 90 degrees. So gardeners here in Texas and in the Brazos Valley too learn to adapt the best the can . Then you never know what insect is going to show up next . So far this year we have had a plague of moth caterpillars, grasshoppers, and squash bugs. And last but not least I am in weed world war.

But it really is worth all the headaches to finally get some results. Nothing tastes better than home grown veggies. They are not always the prettiest but who cares when the flavor is superior!

A few years ago I made a personal decision to really go organic and on our garden. Other than a small amount of commercial fertilizer I have pretty well stayed true to that commitment. Then a year ago we decided to finally convert to Heirloom variety seeds so we could also harvest and then plant our own seeds. Most folks don't realize the modern hybrid varieties don't produce seed that will grow.

Finally we are recycling our grass clippings and left over vegetable matter by composting it and then putting it back into the garden.

Is all this a lot of work? Yes.

Is it worth it? Yes...if nothing else for the simple peace of mind that what you are eating is clean , healthy and tastes like it is supposed to taste.

Fom The Garden...................

To the Kitchen..............

To The stove top...........

.

To The Compost bin.............

And finally Back Again......to the Garden!

Gardening in the Brazos Valley can be fun for the whole family and there is no doubt a great vegetable garden can be an asset to your total property value.
