Xtra Education

The fall registration for Xtra Education is going on now! These programs are put on by College Station's Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with College Station Independent School District's. Whether you want to learn languages, dance, crafts, sports, wine tasting, cooking, art, technology, or more about leasure activities the time to sign up is now!

Some of the more notable, and fun activities listed are:

"American Cabaret Dance: Cabaret merges with Egyptian bellydance for multifaceted routines with a flair for the dramatic. It runs Mondays from Sept 10-Oct 15 from 7:30-8:30 pm and the fee is $60."

"Wedding Ring Quilting: Make the traditional wedding ring quilt using a faster and easier method. No curved seams, simple and easy! Monday Nov 26, Dec 3 & 10th 6-9 pm. $30 class fee."

"Raku Firing Seminar: Join us for a full day seminar to experience the world of the Raku clay firing. All of your supplies are included and you leave with Raku fired art piece. Sat, Sept 15 10-4, Sat. Oct 13 10-4, Sat. Nov. 10 10-4 and Sat Dec 8 10-4. $45 class fee"

"Wine and Wood: Discover the role that different types of wood barrels play in the production of different wines. Wines can be double barrel aged or aged in French or American oak barrels. Each barrel type has a distinct role to play in the final wine product. Come and taste for yourslef. Wed. Oct 24 7-8:30. $45 class fee"

"Holiday Desserts for December: Add decadent desserts to your perfect menu for the holiday season. We will prepare and enjoy the following desserts: orange caramel flan, tres leches, zabaglione with berries, and decadent chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Thurs. December 6 6:30 pm. $70 class fee"

"Clown College: Did you ever want to run away and join the circus? Well now is your chance to fulfill that childhood dream to be a clown. Learn how to dress, apply makeup, create skits, and develop your own clown persona. Mond Sept 17- Oct 8 6:30-8:30 pm. $35 class fee."
