HISTORY - Coppell, Tx ISD was created in 1959. In 1927, Dallas County had acquired six acres of land for $900 and built Pinkerton Elementary, which was the only campus for Coppell, Tx ISD children attending kindergarten through the eighth grade. The total number of students at that time was about 175.

AWARDS AND RATINGS - Coppell, Tx ISD is constantly rated at the top as the best in all of Texas. All Coppell, Tx ISD campuses and district met AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) on all indicators for the No Child Left Behind Act. Coppell, Tx ISD achieved an "Recognized" state accountability rating for '10-11 school year from the Texas Education Agency. For the nineth year in a row, Coppell, Tx ISD has received a Superior Achievement rating based on answering "yes" to each of the 22 indicators included in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) program. Coppell, Tx ISD schools Coppell High School, Coppell Middle School North, Coppell Middle School West, Denton Creek Elm., Lakeside Elem., and Wilson Elem. made the Texas Business and Education Coalition's 2009 Honor Roll. Less than 4% of Texas public schools received this honor.
