The Advent Of Your Umbrella People

I think in life as REALTORS, Stagers, Mortgage Professionals, and others working in the housing industry oftentimes we are called to act as "umbrella people." These are those who handle problems, take care of messes, solve problems, bring their knowledge and experience to bear to work through a situation, and basically to metaphorically speaking make sure you stay dry on a very rainy and cold day.

UmbrellasBut what about this topic in all of your life? Have you noticed

The Advent Of Your Umbrella People?

People come to you it seems when you exactly need them. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Guardian angels arrive right on time. You are hungry and you are fed. You are cold and someone gets you a coat or a blanket. Sometimes all this happens without even asking. Do you believe everything happens for a reason? Do you believe there are NO coincidences in life?

Those who "just happen" to come along to be your friend, to love you, to support you, to even just make you laugh, it is very eerie how it happens. On your darkest day in a hospital room with someone who has just passed away, your next smile may be as near as just the next bed or a hallway away.

I have seen these umbrella people show up, sometimes stay in your life, or are there just to get you through that period of rain and then they are off to brighten other lives once their mission with you is complete. Have you seen this magical side of life too? Keep your eye out for these ones with the umbrellas. They just may be angels sent to you in disguise.

Hi Gary...Here's a question for you:

Do you have the picture and then write a post around it or is it the other way around?

You come up with the best graphics and the best content.

Gary, you're scary!,

We just posted at exactly the same time and we both mentioned things happen for a reason in our posts.  So is this a coincidence or are you my umbrella person, here to support me???

Too funny.

Gary - My husband is my best "Umbrella People". He definately protects me from myself at times! (See my Craigslist scam post for an example!)

Hi Gary, I believe there are angels among us, and you're right, they always show up just when you need them.

Gary...

I have found a lot of these "umbrella" people on ActiveRain!

( 04/16/09 05:50PM ) — Andrea Swiedler

Gary, LOL, I REALLY need one of those people right now.

( 04/16/09 05:50PM ) — Tracy Royce

So how does this go with "Active rain" theme? We carry umbrella's for eachother!

Love it, timely post.

Tracy

Gary,

We - real estate agents, mortgage pros and others - sure often do act as umbrella people for our customers. It's also good have them give us a hand sometimes, like now, when things get dicey.

Gary - love my umbrella people, they provide such great services and always watch your backside, keep us covered.

Kate: Most of the time I have a topic or idea in my head and add some picture to support it, but I have sometimes had a picture and it worked in reverse sparking the idea.

Jenny: That is very eerie as a coincidence but I have learned not to fight the eerie in life anymore.

Sally: I am glad your Doubtful David is around to keep you flying straight. Great craigslist story.

Mary: I believe that angels among us too.

Richard: Me too about the supportive people on Active Rain too.

Andrea: Is it raining where you are in life? I will be your umbrella!!

Tracy: You are TOO smart coupling the theme of the umbrella to Active Rain. Very good!

Esko: We are definitely in the helping professions.

Hi Connie: Your thought about covering your backside, reminds me of a similar post in this theme I wrote once about your Wingman. We all need these great supporters in our lives.

Gary,
This reminds me of the poem that talks about people coming into your life for a reason -- to meet a need or help you through a difficult time,  a season --because it's a time to share a lesson or experience or a lifetime - to teach lifetime lessons and to share love.  That's not the entire poem but pretty much what I remember about it.

Gary ~ I have had this happen to me and people I've met mention that I've come along at the right time for them.  It is eerie and I do believe that things happen for a reason.

Gary,

I think this is a absolutely wonderful post...and yes...I do believe in "umbrella people."  I have have been the recipient more than once....and following the golden rule...try to return the favor when I can....

And I agree with someone who previously said, there are quite a  few such people on AR...and YOU are definitely one!  I can't tell you how much I appreciate your insight and positive and upbeat attitude!

Gary, I had heard the term "working under the umbrella," but "umbrella people" is new to me.  I love it.

May everyone be blessed with all the umbrella people they could ever need.  I've been under the umbrella many a time. =)  Thanks for a great read.

These are the people in our business lives or personal that we depend on to make things go smoothly.

Gary:  There are no coincidences in life, of that, I am 100% convinced.  And I think that running our business like umbrella people means more referrals from all we help.

Gary - What a great way of explaining and giving the name - umbrella people.  I believe everything happens for a reason.

( 04/16/09 08:05PM ) — Nancy Robertson, RESA

Hi, Gary!  I believe God sends people into our lives at just the right time and they stay for a season until His purpose is done.

I love the term "umbrella people".  It reminds me of the insurance company that advertises with a red umbrella of protection.

Great post and great picture!

Gary - Your statement, "People come to you it seems when you exactly need them" is so true.  That has happened to me time and again.  It provides me with the faith there is something much greater than ourselves out there.

Hi Gary, I have an idea. Why not set up the criteria and give out designated "Umbrella Person" certifications. I would believe that ActiveRain members would certainly get lots of them. I want to be grandfathered in, lol.

Gary - Love the term 'umbrella person.'  I have had quite a few of them in my life - people who came around just at the right time!  I agree with William that there are many such people on AR!  What a great read.  Thanks!

I definitely believe we all have umbrella people. It's comforting when they appear -- almost feels like a weight is lifted. I think they also show up in other forms, as well, like as a song on the radio that helps guide you through something you may be going through. Happened to me a couple hours ago -- was a kind of an "aha moment" for me.

Gary

It is a lot of those umbrella people that make the whole thing come together at times, and I would be lost without them

Umbrellas....We are there to handle change!!  I love this Gary!!!

They come and go....and what we all do in between is what matters....it all is relevant...and happens for a reason :)

Gary - So true ... and beautiful.  It is having the awareness of things like this that makes life so special.  Have faith - jump and the net will appear !

Gary - truly you have to be one of the most creative bloggers in AT! THanks for this!

Gary,

I do believe in "umbrella people." Thank you for this insightful post..it's causing me to reflect on how many of these people come into and yes out of our lives. I really like your term..great analogy!

Please send me Umbrella Cowboys. ;-)

Hi Gary...this reminds me of a song by one of my favorite Canadian artists, Gorden Lightfoot...I think you'll enjoy it :-)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pkVy8dXIf0

Recently, I've added more umbrella people to my life. I've got more listings and buyers than I know what to do with right now. So something had to give. As a result, I've lined up more buyer's agents to offer the same exceptional service to my buyers and help guide them to buy their first home in Sacramento. But I couldn't do business without my title and escrow people, plus my wonderful loan officers, not to mention, my husband, who makes my life measurably easier through his support: last night we had deep-dish pizza. Yum.

This is so true.  I have had many special umbrella people in my life and I would like to think that I have been an umbrella person for others.  Another inspiring and though provoking post, Gary!

I have noticed through the course of my life we all tend to get exactly what we need when we need it the most. That includes umbrellas.

Such truth in your blogs, especially this one.  I am a newbie to activerain.  May I have permission to repost your blog?  Haven't learned how to repost, short of cut and paste.  Your words can be of value to so many.

A recent experience:  Monday rec'd a late email from local Assn. Realtors re class on Self-Directed IRA's the next day.  Two of us attended, despite an angry tooth in my mouth, because it was THE subject we'd been discussing.  Low and behold, there was THE company and rep who had been suggested to us by a financial planner.  AND one presenter (who travels US extensively) wants to be part of a seminar we'd been planning for retirees in our community.  Amazing "coincidence", although I don't believe in that word.  If we focus on what we can do to help others, the ways appear, and we also benefit.  Zig Ziglar knows his stuff.    Thanks again.  Elaine Giamona, Lincoln, California.  http://www.mccoyreo.com

Gary, I love the term Umbrella People. I have never heard it before. i have shared this post with a couple of friends who will appreciate your insight.

Gary, You ARE an umbrella person.  Another great inspirational post...I may become a Gary groupie (do you have a band?)

Funny how these people show up when we least expect them, and need them the most.

Gary - What a wonderful post and it really doesn't rain enough in Vegas for me to be a Umbrella Person (just kidding)!

I think your post is very deep and some may not really understand it's meaning!
