In Texas this time of year you can find an abunbdance of wildflowers almost anywhere you travel. In Robertson County there are plenty to enjoy along the roads and highways including the standard bearer Bluebonnets and Paintbrushes.
But one of my favorites are the Forget-Me -Nots.

Quite a few can be seen along several stretches of FM 2549 between Hwy 6 and Hwy 79, near Franklin and Hearne. Noted in the past by Texas Monthly Magazine as one of the prettiest highways in the state, it is well worth the visit to enjoy the flowers and the scenery along this Farm to Market highway. Red Barns, and white rail fences along with rolling hills make the short trip worth every minute.
Unfortunately the wind was gusting to 30 mph when I took this photo but you still get the idea. A delicate flower that can withstand hot asphalt nearby and constant wind from autos and mother nature......... is certainly worth planting in your flower gardens at home too.

Great to see flowers so early in spring. The snow is still on the ground here and the older I get the crankier I get about winter.

Trey - I can't recall that I've ever seen a "forget-me-not" other than in pictures. However, these are the first purple ones I've seen. All others have been blue. That's a really nice picture.
Trey: I don't think I've ever seen a forget-me-not either. Very pretty. I love the purplish color.
Howdy there Trey
Forget-me-nots are some real fine looken little flowers. Did a lot with them back home.

That is funny because.... HOT summer makes me cranky! ;-)

I have found several color variations in our area.
Hi Trey... This is why it is my favorite time of the year to drive around our great state. The beauty of the wildflowers along the road makes the drive a special one.
Indeed that stretch of highway is one of the most beautiful in the Spring. I sometimes drove from Houston to College Station in the Spring just so I could drive through the wildflowers.
