Should Frisco Lift our Water Restrictions?
Tonight the Frisco City Council will consider whether our water restrictions should be revised. This is an important issue and the city leaders need to hear our thoughts.
Frisco is currently under Stage 3 Water Restrictions, which means we are allowed to turn on our sprinklers once a week during certain hours. Many residents think because of all the recent rain all water restrictions should be lifted.
Recent rainfall has improved lake levels above the lows we saw last September and October; however, lake levels remain significantly below normal storage levels.
So should Stage 3 Water Restrictions remain in effect? My thoughts are yes. Do you remember how hard the city worked to educate us on conserving water? How many hundreds of reminder signs were posted around town and in our utility bills? How many red violation flags dotted front yards when violators had their sprinklers shut off?
As a city our citizens are now educated and we have adjusted to Stage 3 life. And do you know what? Our lawns are green, our cars are clean and life has not stopped.
Why change a good thing? When our great rainfall ceases do we pull out the red violation signs again?

The City Council will hear public comments tonight around 7:30. Anyone wishing to speak to the council must fill out a card before hand. I know I'll be there.
Anyone have comments to share please post them here or email me. I'd be happy to take them to the council too.
