Stepping Out in Faith Requires Action

It took me a while to realize that all I needed was FAITH while I spent my whole life searching. Searching in the things that mean so little in the grand scheme of things.

Funny how life takes its turns. I'd always imagine finding FAITH in a big hoo-haa, big she-bang type of commotion. I found it in a book called the Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren. Since then, I've heard lots of testimonials about how this book changed the course for those who read it.

After accepting Christ into my life, I wasn't quite ready for what a Christ-follower's life should be. I laughed remembering going to church in my jammies by watching Joel Osteen on TV every Sunday. I know how some of you feel about Joel Osteen. To me, his not-deep-message was the thing I hung to as I was journeying my baby steps into the life of Christ. If you kept quoting scriptures to my face, it'd be quick before I get out. So, at the end of one sermon, Joel Osteen encouraged me to go check out a local church - for that's when your faith will grow.

So, true enough. I stepped out in faith to find a church that suited my family and I. We found Hope Fellowship in Frisco TX. It had just finised the Purpose-Driven Life series and I took it as a sign that there's where I need to be.

7 years later, we are still at church serving coffee every weekend. Now, we have a little helper that helps us too.

Stepping out in FAITH requires ACTION. It doesnt mean just having Jesus in your heart. It goes beyond just doing good and "loving on others". Sometimes, we need to get fed, learn from other believers and hold yourself accountable with your presence at church. But don't stop there. Your next step would be to serve - after all, isn't that what Jesus's life is about?

Scripture of the Week:

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28
