One of the first things everyone wants to know, about condos especially, is how much the home owners association fee is...the H.O.A. fee.

In general, the HOA fees cover things like grounds maintenance, trash and insurance and sometimes cable t.v. and water. Sometimes there are exceptions where condos will charge another fee quartely, etc..for insurance, but in general all of the building insurance is covered in the monthly home owners fee. This is a huge advantage for the condo buyer; rather than buying flood, home owners and windstorm insurance you have it covered within your home owners fee.

Some newer or more luxury buildings have higher home owners association fees than the more established developments or smaller developments that are not as luxury-oriented. This is due to the insurance coverage required and normally is comparable to the higher value/price of the building.

You can expect higher HOA fees in newer, more luxurious and higher-end buildings because the home owners association fee has to pay the insurance rates to cover the higher cost of the real estate.

In home neighborhoods on Galveston's west end and also across the island, you many find homes that also have a home owners association fee. Normally homes in neighborhoods have a yearly fee as opposed to a monthly fee. Some of our more established west end beach homes don't have a home owners or H.O.A. fee at all..it just depends on the beach.
