In the heart of Bay Area Houston, across the street from Johnson Space Center/NASA, the Mediterraneo Market & Cafe is a restaurant bursting with delicious mediterranean flavors and style. In this casual and comfortable atmosphere the brightly painted surroundings, regional music and friendly service combine for a pleasant dining experience, whether it is lunch or dinner. Choose from gyros, falafel (chickpea & fava bean patties), baba ghanoug, moussaka (eggplant, ground beef, potato) and many other meat, seafood, pasta and vegetarian entrees and combination plates. There is a brief description beside each menu item to help you decide.
Lunch is served 11am to 5pm from a varied menu featuring sandwiches, wraps, kebabs, and vegetarian and mediterranean plates. You can also order appetizers, soups, salads, and combination platters with meat, seafood, or pasta entrees. For dessert my favorite is a slice of baklava for only $1.35.
Mediterraneo Market and Cafe also sells a nice selection of cheeses, international foods and gifts. You will find yourself lingering at the wall of autographs and the wall dedicated to the astronauts. They also serve coffee, including Greek/Turkish coffee, and other hot and cold coffee selections.
