FAMILY FEUD COMES TO HOUSTON, KELLER WILLIAMS-STYLE

The Memorial office conducts their own version of the famous game show, and the contestants walk away happy and better equipped to face the Houston real estate market.

Seven teams played in this competition, with each team comprised of five contestants, and alternates standing by. Matches were held regularly at the office team meetings which occur each Tuesday. The game's commentator was none other than the office Team Leader, Michael Bossart, who gave Richard Dawson a run for his money. There was never a dull moment, with competition in the air, excitement and a great deal of laughter.

The competition was based on the book, Shift - How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times, which is authored by Gary Keller himself, the founder of Keller Williams Realty International. The book emphasizes the need for realtors to "shift" as the market shifts, and at the same time, to do something new and revolutionary to change one's focus to make things even better when the market is stable. Contestants had to quiz and drill themselves for several weeks on this book's material because the questions were solely derived from it. Each contestant genuinely had to learn this book's tactics in order to advance in the competition. In Keller Williams' fashion, everyone had the opportunity to make a comeback with the game's double-elimination rule.

"Agents are competitive. And the idea was for them to learn this book and get it deep inside to be able to overcome real obstacles in today's market. They were really studying this book. It was great. And besides, this office loves to have fun," Bossart said.

It was a grueling twelve weeks, but it paid off. The "iPad Winners", aptly named, was the team who finally brought home the championship. Its members were the following: Mark Fuller, Michelle Hinton, Brenda Hernandez, Chuck Roush and Betty Bezemer. Each member received their brand new iPad 2 thanks to a number of sponsors including: OneGuard Home Warranty, Pool Guard Texas, WR Starkey Mortgage, A Total Inspection, David Weekley Homes, Jason Jimenez Insurance Agency and CutCo Closing Gifts.

Next on the horizon for Keller Williams Memorial is Who Wants to be a Millionaire? [Real Estate Agent].
