Finally! The new kitchen.

I just cleaned up the "new" kitchen! We have been working on it since Labor Day. It still needs a few finishing touches but the worst of the construction is finally over.

Built in 1973, this house had not been updated at all. We bought it in 2007 with the plan to update it. Then life got in the way.

When we determined that it is more house than we wish to maintain, heat or clean we began the redo. That decision was made because the market will demand it. Sitting with a house on the market did not appeal to us.

We have painted cabinets inside and out, glass fronted some of them, put new hardware on, added granite counters, glass tile backsplash, new appliances, track lighting, and a laminate wood floor. It is a delight to cook in and will be easy to clean. It is almost sad to realize that it is someone else's kitchen!

While we were working on this room we have also repainted the inside of the house and updated both baths.

Perhaps the greatest lesson learned from this experience was that we should do the remodel sooner on the next house!
