Tanglewood - One of Houston's most prestigious neighborhoods, Tanglewood is Located just outside the 610 Loop about 8 miles from Downtown Houston.

Tanglewood opened in the summer of 1949 and was named for the book Tanglewood Tales, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The developer came from a part of the country with hills, so he curved the streets and landscaped to create interest. Big lots, typically 1/4-acre to 3/4-acre, are in keeping with his plan for an upscale community. Residents often stroll along the trail at the Tanglewood Boulevard median, which is lined with live oaks and crape myrtles. Tanglewood has always been an extremely popular area because of its location in the heart of Galleria area, close to downtown and surrounded in part by Houston Country Club. Homes in Tanglewood and the surrounding area have become increasingly sought after in recent years as Houston's luxury housing market expands.
