Huntsville Texas is a great size town of 38,548 (2010 Census) and has enjoyed 9.9% growth. It is located just 35 minutes up I-45 from The Woodlands and less than an hour from Houston. It is located in the middle of EVERYTHING including the

Sam Houston Forest and about 30 minutes from Lake Livingston and Lake Conroe. This gives everyone great access to great outdoor activities such as hiking,

boating, biking, fishing,

canoeing, and camping at Huntsville State Park and National Forest Recreation Areas.

Now for the College Town part. Sam Houston State University was founded in 1879 and currently has an enrollment of over 17,600. It is the fastest growing University in Texas. SHSU brings a high level of culture without having to be in a large metropolitan area. And in case you haven’t noticed, SHSU also brings a high level of sporting events.

BearKats Football is ranked #1 in the Nation and is only one of two Division I teams that are undefeated. They played last night in the National Semifinals and for the second week in a row, the game was broadcast on ESPN (this is BIG TIME for our town!).

Check out the 67 foot statue of Sam Houston on I-45 (the largest statue of an American Hero) because it will be lighted orange tonight through the National Championship game in honor of the SHSU BearKats FOOTBALL!

Living in a college town gives residents of Huntsville access to Theater Productions, Music Dept. Concerts in a GORGEOUS new performance facility,

a Variety of Sporting Events, Art Exhibits, Well Known Speakers, History and Museums, Parks and many other perks. We even went to hear the Houston Symphony in the beautiful new performance hall right here in Huntsville. College kids also keep you young. (We can try & hope)
