My husband and I took a much needed mini vacation to Junction, TX to canoe and fish the South Llano River. We had a blast! The little fish at the end of the video might be small, but the fight in this fish is incredible. They're a Guadalupe bass and they are scrappy...no bumping the bait, no nibbling...it's BAM!! Lots of fun!
Junction is a small town west of San Antonio and Austin and I must say, they have the friendliest people of anywhere we've visited. EVERYONE has been very pleasant. That says a lot for this town.
We have to go home tomorrow, but we're planning on coming back again one day soon! I hope you enjoy this little relaxing video.

Still not quite into summer time mode up here but I'm sure I can catch a smaller fish this season!
Dan - LOL...his was a gorilla compared to one I caught!
That looks like a great spot to kayak. I bet you enjoyed it very much. Did you camp?
Linda, Looks like you had a relaxing time! I have never fished and am not sure if I could do it so your fish is bigger than any one I ever caught!:)
Linda glad that you are have a good time, and that is beautiful country out there.
But that fish, I think I have bigger ones in my fish tank .......... LOL
Hi Linda,
I'm happy you and your hubby found a few days to escape and relax. What a lovely lake, looks serene and relaxing. Have a safe trip home.
Moni - Yes, we camped...at the Best Western! LOL
Roberta - I never thought I would like fishing, but it's so relaxing. What I really like is saltwater fishing.
George - We DO have bigger fish in our fish tank! I keep threatening to stick a lure in the tank and catch one, but my husband almost faints when I say that! LOL
Cynthia - It is relaxing and it's always good to get away... we needed it.
Linda - This looks like a great place to go fly fishing.
Linda, It looks like you had a great time and that is one scrappy fish.
glad you had a good time.... relaxing is so important
Linda it has been a while since you posted something about one of your fishing trips! Nice to get away and enjoy yourself isn't it :)
Larry - Fly fishers love this area..I'm not coordinated to fly fish. I think fly fishing is like poetry when someone does it well.
Marchel - It was a great time! All the way home today I kept trying to get my husband to turn around and go back!
Thesa - We did relax...then it was back to reality!
Bill - You know I had to write about the first time fishing this year! LOL It is wonderful to get away!
Linda,
I can't upload an image in my comment, and I don't know if this will "stick." Things are screwy in the Rain right now. Thanks for the post. I haven't wet a line in ages!
Mike in Tucson
Oh my!! You are making me miss my trips to the Brazos River.
Below Possum Kingdom..... we made made a 2-day trip out of the 1-day.
Lolly-gaggers are us!!
Mike - I know things are screwy! I hope they get this fixed quickly... You should take off and go fishing..
Tom - I miss going to PK and the Brazos. We used to go all the time but they had a fish kill several years ago and we've not been back. I've heard it recovered but we haven't checked it out. We did that trip in one day and it's a killer in low water!
Oh, just another place for you to take me when we finally get to meet up! I so love fishing!
Todd, this was one cool place! If I was into goat farming I would move there in a heartbeat! There's not much else to do there to make a living, but wow...what a wonderful place! I've never met friendlier people...but, then I've never been to Oregon! Have a wonderful week! You really do need to come and visit!
Linda, looks liike it was a fun, relaxing day for the two of you and much deserved. Hope all is well.
Hi Gena - Things are pretty good! We did have a great time!

Hi Janie! It was fun to get away for a few days...we ALL need to do that! Those are sure beautiful homes you have...how sad they won't sell.
I Love the Llano River. In my last blog I wrote about some of my childhood memories about camping & fishing on the river.

Fairgrace - It was my first trip to Junction and fell in love with the place. We're planning another trip in October. Thanks for stopping by and I'll hop over to check out your blog.
Linda
Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed your little fishing videos. When I was a kid we called those red flowers Indian blankets. I love the Texas Hill Country wildflowers. However I have not had the pleasure of seeing them in person since 2001. I did get down to Llano in September 2005 and spent the day swimming in the Llano River. It was wonderful therapy!!!
