There are many more benefits for each. It is really up to each buyer's preference and desires. Some people want mature trees and an established neighborhood and others would rather start from scratch. If you don't mind a new neighborhood and are willing to stay for at least three years then new would be the way to go. If not then buy from the original homeowner and you'll be able to benefit by getting a newer pre-owned house. There are so many ways of looking at it.
