One of my customers just sent this to me and I thought I would pass it along.
If you don't live within the city limits of Katy, you are eligible for the removal of the city sales tax and the Gross Receipts Tax from your utility bill. Cinco Ranch is not in Katy city limits. I requested a note from the city of Katy (Charlie Shafer, cshafer@cityofkaty.com) confirming that we are not in the city limits and sent it to the utility with a request for the tax removal. I just got a $150 refund for the 3 years I was charged the tax. I imagine the same would hold true for Richmond too. Good luck!
