The wonderful benefits of eating Pineapple

Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. I wanted to share a few of the benefits of eating pineapple with you. Pineapple is the only edible fruit from the bromeliad family. Each little segment on the outside of the pineapple is a flower. The more flowers the sweeter the pineapple.

Pineapples are versatile and can be eaten fresh as a snack or side dish or can be added to many different recipes. Add some pineapple chunks to your favorite salads. Just like grapes, pineapple gives everything a fresh, sweet taste. Or try putting pineapple in casseroles. Be creative, anything with an Asian or Cuban sauce will work well. I am making a cold salad today with brown rice, scallions, Pineapple, celery, nuts and a touch of soy sauce. Fresh or canned Pineapple

Fresh or canned pineapple, it's all good!

Pineapple works well in desserts too. Who doesn't like pineapple cake or pineapple pie? Try mixing a small can of crushed pineapple in jello when mixing it up. You will love it! Pineapple juice in the morning is an excellent source of vitamin C, just like orange juice. Children love pineapple on pizza.

Pineapple is versatile and we should consider all the health benefits pineapple can bring to our table. Pineapples help with digestion because they have Bromelain in them. This is a proteolytic enzyme that breaks down protein. Bromelain is also an anti-inflammatory that helps with mild joint pain or swelling caused by arthritis or injury.

Pineapple has manganese which helps build strong bones and connective tissue. This is especially important for older people who suffer from osteoarthritis. Pineapple is known to reduce mucus in people who have colds or sinusitis. Pineapples help if you have sinus problems from allergies too. Pineapple helps to reduce blood clots as well, so it is important for frequent fliers.

Enjoy the delicious, sweet, aromatic pineapple and be happy knowing all the health benefits you are getting from something that tastes and smells so delicious!

No, I'm not working for Dole or any other food company to push pineapple. This is an ingredient I use all the time to make my dishes more delicious and nutritious. I thought you might like to try some of these things too.
