IS IT JUST ME OR IS ANYONE ELSE TIRED OF THE SAME OLD NEGATIVE MEDIA TELLING US HOW BAD REAL ESTATE IS? I completely understand that it is terrible in certain places around the country. I also realize that people who had no business qualifying for a mortgage are home owners (or WERE home owners)! But, let's face it, the media has trouble reporting anything POSITIVE! Many real estate markets, including LUBBOCK, TEXAS, are not bombarded with foreclosures! We have had some, but that is to be expected. The huge majority of homeowners, especially in Lubbock, are still making their monthly mortgage payments. Interest rates are still very low! The subprime loans to those who had no business buying a house have pretty much gone by the wayside. Lubbock lenders did not do interest only loans. Very few people did Adjusted Rate Mortgages in our market. Our market is not plummeting like the places that have had extreme highs and lows across the country. It is too bad the media is not looking at the cold hard facts and spotlighting the markets that have maintained healthy real estate markets. I guess it is up to the people, the realtors, the loan officers, the buyers and sellers of real estate to continue promoting the blessings and joys of home ownership. Thank GOD we live in a free country with so many freedoms to enjoy personal property. Home ownership is still a wonderful long term investment for building equity and wealth. Wonderful investment opportunities still abound! Sellers are still able to make a fair profit on the sale of their real estate. Buyers are still buying for a fair price day in and day out. Whatever you do, please don't let the NEGATIVE MEDIA totally corrupt your thought processes. Of course there are some places that are really hurting and we pray for those markets. Of course there is a certain amount of mortgage fraud, foreclosures, bankruptcy, bailouts,etc....but let's focus on the big picture and realize the sky is not falling. The sun is still shining...bright days are ahead of us...Let's all use common sense, wise judgment and discernment and consider the big picture.
Remember Whether Buying or Selling...It's Always a SELLERS Market!
