Wow, I'm about to create my first blog. I guess the first valuable information I'd like to say to seller's is this...Please interview agents before you list your home. Find someone you can trust and get along with. That is the most important thing. All real estate agents can help you sell your home, you need one you can talk to and trust. Just because an agent is very popular and has a lot of listings doesn't mean they are more qualified to sell your home. Pricing is the key to selling, not a popular agent. When interviewing, listen for the word "guarantee". If an agent "guarantees to sell your home in a certain amount of time or for a certain price, be cautious. There are agents out there who will tell you anything just to get a listing. We have no control over the market, so please trust your agent when they tell you the market value of your home. I promise you, we are not trying to make you sell cheap. Remember that we don't have any emotional connections to the house and neither does the buyer. You will want to put value on memories made in the house or that tree you planted a few years ago. Those things are wonderful and I understand because I do the same thing with my own home, but, those things have nothing to do with market value. Trust us, it's what we do for a living. There are people out there that will let a doctor cut them open without a second opinion and there are people that will go with the first agent because they saw them on a billboard. And don't get me wrong, that popular agent on that billboard may be the perfect fit for you, just make sure. Like I said, interview at least three agents, maybe more, until you find a person you can work with and trust. Trust your instincts. You know when someone is feeding you a line of bull. Don't fall for the "I can get you more money than other agents" statement. I promise you they can only get what someone is willing to pay. And finally, be open to the fact that the agent might not want to work with you. Just as you are interviewing, you are being interviewed. That's fine too. Not everyone will be a good fit, but, if you find and agent that is a good fit for you, it will make your home selling process a much easier and less stressful experience. I could go on for ever, but, I don't think I did too bad for my first time. Thanks for reading.
