- Voters said "no" to the "Say Yes! to Kingsland" group's plan to incorporate the community Tuesday by a resounding 76 percent, according to unofficial totals. Attempts to incorporate were made in 2000 and 2008 but both also failed.
- LCRA has banned floating habitable structures on all Highland Lakes, whether temporary or permanent. This applies to structures that are permanently anchored, not navigable houseboats. Floating structures built before October 20, 2010 are grandfathered into the new ordinance, but may not be modified, expanded or replaced, except for maintenance and safety reasons.
- The 2nd Annual Hill Country Christmas Market takes place Nov. 18th and 19th at Galloway Hammond Recreation Center in Burnet. The event is held both days from 10am – 6pm and the fee is $2 per person in advance by Dec. 1 or $3 at the door. Children under the age of eight are free with an adult. The event will feature over 65 vendors.
- November 18th 6pm ~ Chamber Walkway of Lights Parade on Main Street followed by Opening of Walkway of Lights.
- November 21st 6pm ~ Burnet County Courthouse Lights Up for the Holidays. 220 S Pierce. Join carolers, dancers, Santa, and his helpers for ceremony and toy drive.
- December 1st 6pm-9pm ~ LBJ Lamplight Tours of the Boyhood Home in Johnson City.
- December 1st – 11th 7:30pm ~ Hill Country Community Theatre's "Southern Hospitality" 7pm Performances for Thursday through Saturday and 2:15pm matinees on Sunday afternoons.
- Spanish Trail Assisted Living is now open in Horseshoe Bay at 26409 E. Hwy 71.
- A tourist train planned from the Austin area to Marble Falls has been derailed due to funding issues. The tracks, which are owned by Capital Metro need repair and original estimates of $100,000 have ballooned to $850,000.
- Packsaddle Country Club in Kingsland has new owners and a new name, along with new management. The course is now the Lighthouse Country Club, named for the new owner's Midland-based business, Lighthouse Energy Solutions. The owners, Rick & Mercy Howe are embarking on a new adventure with this project and are looking forward to a successful future, along with the new general manager, Al Pryor. The club's previous owners filed for bankruptcy in 2008. The Howe's are cleaning up and reinvigorating the course and have changed the 18th hole from a par 4 to a par 3.
- Scott & White plans to relocate its Kingsland clinic to the South Side of town, next to the First State Bank location. The clinic could be finished by May 2012.
- Scott & White’s groundbreaking for its new clinic will take place on November 16th at the Hwy 71 location.

- Lake & Country Life magazine, published by the Highland Lakes Newspapers, has a new I-Phone app with information about attractions, dining, shopping, entertainment, real estate, and more.
- Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet now has an online service to allow you to designate an arrival time at the hospital’s emergency room. There is a $4.99 fee for the service, but if you aren’t seen by a health care professional within 15 minutes of your designated arrival time, the fee will be refunded. Go to SetonER.com.
- A new sports-themed eatery comes to Horseshoe Bay, The Hole-in-One Bar & Grill has opened at 7401 RR 2147. Happy hour is from 3-7pm Monday –Friday.
- The Horseshoe Bay Resort welcomes a new general manager, Richard Bibee.
