10 ways to conserve water and save you money!

10 ways to conserve water and save you money!

  1. Turn the dial on your irrigation system from Automatic to Manuel. Even though you can water 2 times a week, you don't always need to. Step on your grass. If it springs back when you lift your foot - it doesn't need water
  2. Put a thick layer of mulch (2 to 6 inches) around trees and plants. SprinklersChunks of bark, peat moss or gravels slow the rate of evaporation.
  3. Fix leaky faucets and plumbing joints.
  4. If you have a pool, use a pool cover to cut down on evaporation. It will also keep your pool cleaner and reduce the need to add chemicals.
  5. Don't water on windy days. There's too much evaporation.
  6. Set lawn mower blades one notch higher.
  7. Replace your lawn and high-water-using trees and plants with native and adaptive plants that use less water and are more drought tolerant.
  8. Install water-saving shower head or flow restrictors.
  9. Shorten your showers.
  10. Run only full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher.
