"Between a Rock and a Weird Place" - Pflugerville, Texas Makes Relocation List

With its newest marketing slogan, "Pflugerville: Between a Rock and a Weird Place", my current hometown seems poised for even more growth now that it has been named as one of the "Top 100 Places to Live" according to Relocate America.

To briefly explain the saying, Pflugerville is located between Round Rock and Austin, whose city slogan is "Keep Austin Weird". This refers to efforts to support local small businesses as opposed to large chain stores.

I have lived in Pflugerville for over 14 years now, so I know firsthand how great the town is for raising kids. It's quiet, safe, friendly, and affordable. What else could you ask for?

When we first moved here, the census sign (from 1990) said, "Population: 4,444". The current population is approaching 50,000, making Pflugerville one of the fastest growing cities in Texas.

Speaking of the desirability of our community:

"Pflugerville is just 20 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and with two new state highways traversing the city, Pflugerville will soon be an essential hub for people making their way in and around Central Texas. Perhaps most importantly, Pflugerville is committed to families. Located minutes from technology giants Dell, Samsung, Motorola and IBM, and from the State offices in downtown Austin, the City attracts a highly educated population in search of quality housing, excellent schools and a safe, healthy environment."

Too funny.  The name says it all....I sometimes wonder where they get the names.  We have a city in Florida where I would like to live...."Niceville."

Congrats on your hometown making the top 100 places!  That is great!  I like the sound of Niceville also...

I have to start visiting your blog more often, Jason -  This is funny - Those old boys down in Austin have a sense of humor !

Congrats on the top 100.

LOL. Every time you blog about Pflugerville, I laugh. OK, so I'm easily amused. But I have twin brothers. I swear I can hear their jokes from 30 years ago ringing in my ears. And that name is just too easy. Doh!

Jason, Pflugerville is such a pfun name, I'll bet all the residents are just pfun too!

OK Jason - so now we learn where you get your sense of humor - somewhere between a rock and a weird place!!  All the best to your hometown as it continues to grow funky.

Jason,

I think that the city has chosen a great city slogan and congrats on being named to the top 100 list of best places to live.

Jason,  Great post and incredible growth in your area.  I can remember not that long ago when Pflugerville was small.  It is unbelievable how it has grown.  Good quality growth too.

Pflugerville...a funny name.  While in PA this past week, we went through a small town called...Intercourse, PA.  Now, that is funny.

Jason,

"Between a Rock and a Weird Place"....what a great slogan! No wonder so many people moved there.   :)

Wow that is unbelievable growth. Did you know that is where Lani and Benn live from Agent Genius?  Ever run into them at the grocery store or Starbucks?

Hi Jason... I LOVE THE NEW SLOGAN!!!  Pflugerville has been a great growth area for the past decade.  It's simply Pfabulous!

Jason, I remember when Pflugerville and Round Rock were way out there, now it is connected through Georgetown. It is an ideal size for raising a family and I love that city slogan.
