There goes that Carolyn Starr with here Eye Candy Contest Again! How can anyone resist? Interesting concept. Now What consists of a Landmark? Is it a historic structure, a monument, a testimony? I decided to take a spin on the concept of "Landmark" ...For those of you that know me - I was fortunate enough to experience some memorable "Landmarks" early this year........in the fabulous state of Texas.
What Defines a Landmark?
1. A prominent identifying feature....a conspicuous object on land that marks a locality... ? A building or site with historical significance, especially one marked for preservation? An event marking an important stage of development or a turning point in history...
Well Let Me Share Some of My Favorite Texas Landmarks..But More Memorable were the Active Rain Friends I met there...:-))
Memorable Dallas, Texas - Landmarks
Dealey Plaza, the former School Book Depository (now the Sixth Floor Museum), where Lee Harvey Oswald lurked on that fateful day in 1963. And the triple underpass of Commerce, Main, and Elm streets, the route of President Kennedy's motorcade; the 1915 Dallas Criminal Courts Building, where Jack Ruby was tried in 1964 for shooting Oswald; an ornate clock tower crowning the castle-like 1893 Dallas County courthouse; the new Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture.
Dallas, Texas - Active Rain Landmarks!
Gary Woltal, Amanda Hall, Melody Botting, Steve Shatsky and Gina Teague.....

2. Is it a fixed marker - an anatomical structure used as a point of orientation in locating other structures? Or a reputation, or an association making it synonymous with....
Austin City Limits - Landmarks
The State Capitol with its glittering pink Texas granite; The CongressB ridge Bats, Driskill Hotel, Governer's Mansion, Omni Hotel - Live Music Capital of the World, Sixth Street, Lake Travis,Threadgills, The Oasis.
Austin, Texas - Active Rain Landmarks!
Jason Crouch and Russell Lewis...

3.) Or a structure (as a building) of unusual historical and usually aesthetic interest ; especially : one that is officially designated and set aside for preservation?
The Alamo! Riverwalk, San Antonio River, The Missions, La Villita....
San Antonio, Texas - Active Rain Landmarks!
Kristin Moran and Sheila Moran

I thus proclaim and "accord the Status of a Landmark " to My Favorite Texans!....
