We've been having a problem with bees at my house. Living out in the wilds of nature, you'd think they would prefer a more natural setting, but NO. They have to set up home in the eaves of our house! I've been battling these little buggers for the past 10 years. No sooner do I eliminate a hive then a new swarm comes in the next spring and sets up in a new location.
I've called out our local bee keeper on the first infestation. He supposedly cleaned them out but they came right back within a couple of weeks. So I've been doing it myself ever since.
I just finished wiping out another hive today. Now I have to get back up tomorrow and remove the honey combs and all the dead bees, fill the cavity with expanding foam so they can't set up home again, seal the soffet and facia with caulk and then nail it all back up.
Then wait for next spring for them to do it all again! I would really prefer to have them moved, but no one will come out to do that.
This wouldn't be so bad except that they choose the highest part of the soffet to get into, about 20' up in the air.
As I was searching for information on preventing re-infestation, I came across a couple of interesting videos on youtube about bee removal.
The serious videos are mildly informative. Here's the "don't try this at home" do it yourself bee removal vid:
