Is D/FW the fastest growing Metro area in 2009?

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex grew faster than any other region in the Country last year, says the estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau as of March 2010. We knew everything was bigger in Texas - we even coined the term 'Metropolitan' - but North Texas is seeing serious growth!

This information was forwarded to me and I had to take a look. Numbers don't lie! Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington is estimated to have gained 146,530 residents from July 2008 to 2009, which is the highest numerical increase in the nation. D/FW is still the fourth largest metro area in the Country, following the "Big Apple" New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Our Southern neighbor Houston follows closely at number 6 on the list of largest metros.

With the current Census numbers rolling in (see 'Reasons to Return Your Census Form'), data that is published next year will be an accurate reflection of population growth in the area. The Census is likely to prove that the Texas economy is healthy and robust, compared with other metros. And if everything relates back to real estate, will the recent slowdown in suburban housing developments have an impact?
