Things I Learned Along The way / Lies come in three types each with two subtypes.
Things I Learned Along The way. We have to be tolerant, we have to be respectful until we know the reason for and the type of a lie.
Things I Learned Along The way / Lies. Some lies can even be admirable.
Things I Learned Along The way / Lies. Type one lies, deliberate. Deliberate lies come in two subtypes. The worst lies, the most harmful deliberate lies, are those intended for self gain. The other subtype is the most honorable of lies. The white lie, witch does no harm and spares the listener or makes them feel better.
Things I Learned Along The way / Lies. Type two lies, inadvertent lies. The first subtype is the most common in life: simply mis-speaking, it's also, when corrected, the most forgivable. The second subtype is the most common in real estate, sincerely repeating a lie you've been told.
Things I Learned Along The way / Lies. Type three lies are those of incompetence. Again there are two subtypes. Constructive incompetence, is when some one says more than they know! Subtype two is a lie of omission, when you simply don't say what needs said. Lies of incompetence while not the worst lies, are never justified or forgivable. However, unlike deliberate liars some incompetents can reform, so it's best not to burn your bridges.
By definition in real estate, all brokers and their agents are liars! When you're a go between, you're passing along third party information, some of witch despite your best due-diligents will prove to be wrong. (Note: For all practical purposes bankers are brokers. You've probably never met a real banker with authority, only bank operations people or salesmen.) This is not to disparage brokers or their agents only to encourage tolerance unless the lies are deliberate. Brokers must be extremely careful of what they say least the lies become overwhelming!
Things I Learned Along The way / Lies. Until we know the type and reason for a lie we have to be tolerant. Ostracize and shun those that deliberately lie or lie for self gain. All others we should tolerate, but verify!
