Was your real estate agent available to you beyond the normal 8am-5pm traditional work day? Did they take your call when you had questions and answer them to your satisfaction, even though you were interrupting their private, family time? Did they stay calm through your melt-down when your loan wasn't processing as quickly as you wanted it to? Did they help to overcome the obstacles? Did they stay with you from the initial home tour all the way through to the final walk-thru and closing/funding? Were they always courteous and kind in their dealings with you?
SAY THANK-YOU!
Were you demanding at times? As an agent, we have to refuse to ride the crazy train with you if you get frustrated? Being kind doesn't cost a penny. If you cannot bring yourself to call, then send a text, write a email, or drop a note in the mailbox. But, please remember to say thank-you. I bet your real estate agent thanked you just about every time they communicated with you. Common courtesy never goes out of fashion. This is a service industry. We work with some really awful people on occasion. And, it's always the ones you don't expect to misbehave. We understand that everybody handles stress differently. After all, moving is one of the top 3 stressors in life. Fortunately, I've found most people still behave very pleasantly. It's only the occasional person/people who heap unrealistic demands on us. So, it means that much more when someone else offers a simple thank-you. Your small gesture of thanks can work to overcome someone else's oversight.
I've received all sorts of interesting gifts from satisfied clients throughout the years. It isn't why I do my job. And, not a single one of those gifts have surpassed the value I place on hearing the words "thank you for your help".
Have a blessed day!
