Last night fire gutted two businesses in downtown Bandera. The Shoe Biz women's store and the Trading Post were consummed by fire before the fire department could contain the flames. The patrons of the OST restaurant ran out, their meals still warm on their tables. Fortunately, the historic restaurant escaped any major damage, and the owners vowed to reopen by this weekend's festivities. Today, the Fire Marshall sifted through the wreckage, looking for the cause, while camera crews from San Antonio filmed the site and interviewed owners and witnesses. Bandera will not be the same without Shoe Biz. The owners of the Trading Post building were working that day to set up a new business in the building, set to open in October. What they will do now we can only guess. It will be awhile before things get back to normal at the corner of Cypress and Main.
