QR Codes for Smartphones

After 36 years in the business, Homes & Land continues to incorporate new technology to add value to an already strong multi-media program.

Homes & Land is about to give our print program a whole new life...by making it interactive!

You will begin seeing more & more of these little square boxes throughout our magazine, like the one you see below. They are the bridge between print advertising and the Internet and what brings print to life for those who choose to embrace the new technology.

QR code

A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by smartphones. Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes throughout Europe...and gaining steam here in the US. QR is the acronym for Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

By downloading a QR code app on your Droid, Blackberry, iPhone (or any other smart phone with a camera), you can easily scan the code and be instantly taken to more information and images. No more having to remember long email or web addresses, and there’s no texting or Tweeting involved. It’s easy!

So the next time you’re perusing a Homes & Land Magazine at your favorite coffee shop or restaurant and see a QR code, you no longer need to wait until you can get to a computer for more information and photos....just scan the QR code with your smart phone!

Homes & Land remains on the cutting edge of technology to help our advertisers more effectively reach homebuyers! QR Codes are just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come! More evidence that print is alive and well and Homes & Land is helping lead the way!
