Ideas to Sell a House

Wall Street Journal columnist Amy Hoak reported on some very creative ways Realtors are selling houses in this market. The idea is to get buyers to stay in the listing longer – not just rush out after seeing the home’s highlights.

One agent in the Hamptons held an art exhibit of black and white photography in a large empty house. Over 150 people came to see the art, drink some wine and hang out in the home. It worked – the house sold.

Another agent in Atlanta has sellers write personal notes about the home, telling prospective buyers about the happy times they’d had there and including information on where they shopped and ate, and why they’re moving. The notes help paint a lifestyle for prospects, and shoppers remember the home later.
