Maggots Eating and Sharing My Nuts

I gotta give credit to my wife for trying to supply the family with a healthy choice of things to eat around the house. One of her favorite grocery stores is H-E-B. They routinely have better produce, meats and seafood. For the last couple of months we've been buying these odd shaped and super healthy nuts from "that section." It's not uncommon for us to go through a pound of these tasty, crunchy and salty goods of Earth in about a week; hardly time for them to become spoiled or rotten. My wife always ensures they're placed in an air tight jar so you know.

After each purchase we began to notice that our healthy little snack began to literally devour itself. The nuts became more like crumbles. I had to assume this was from shaking the jar and rattling some in the palm of our hands.

Today, to our horror, we discovered that our little jar of treats was being shared by maggots.

Websters Dictionary defines Maggot as a soft-bodied legless grub that is the larva of a dipterous insect (as the housefly)

Right by the pinpoint you'll find one of many dead maggots that were mixed with the nuts. For the last week me, my kids and my wife have been eating these nuts. I usually grab a handful and throw it back without hesitation. Needless to say, I won't be eating any nuts from the grocery store without going through the container very, very carefully.

I hear they're filled with protein.
