How many homes have you shown where the the seller disclosed having had bed bugs?
Are sellers required to disclose bedbugs?
What happens when a Realtor walks into a home, picks up the bugs and shows 15 other properties?
Sound disgusting? It's happening! Bedbugs aren't just bouncing from hotels and apartments. They're hitching rides from people who walk through houses.
Many sellers don't even know they have these little critters until they start finding sores all over their arms, legs and back.
Ewwww!
No where in the Texas Sellers Disclosure does it specifically speak to "bedbugs." It does however ask about previous termite damage, termite treatment and or wood destroying insects. Interestingly enough, our Sellers Disclosure requires the seller to disclose whether or not "endangered species habitat the property." I don't know about you, but knowing about Bedbugs is way more important than knowing If Puff The Magic Dragon & Bald Eagles are living on the property.
The closest our sellers disclosure gets to Bedbugs is requiring the seller to disclose any condition on the property that materialy affects safety or health of an individual.
Is this too vague?
Throughout Houston if you rent an apartment you can expect to sign a Bedbug Addendum. Why not for houses?
