A Gay Tenant Is Pressuring You To Disclose His Sexual Orientation. What Now?

Imagine working with a couple who demands that you disclose their sexual orientation to a perspective Landlord BEFORE their application is submitted for approval. They are fully aware they cannot be denied tenancy simply because they are "gay." However, they want to be certain that the Landlord is "aware" as they have experienced grief from past landlords.

Do you follow your clients requests? If you don't follow your clients request are you violating your fiduciary duty to your client?

Wouldn't you want to "enjoy" your home without worry that you'll be treated differently by the Landlord? I can't speak on what I would do because I am not gay, but I'd like to think that members of protected classes felt protected enough to the point where they didn't have to go around looking for blessings from Landlords. Nonetheless, the question/conundrum of sorts remains.

There is absolutely no intelligent way a Realtor could ask this question without crossing into deadly waters. What are they to do? Send an email that reads.. "My clients are gay and we want your Landlord to know before an application is submitted."
