Would you ever consider getting power of attorney over your client? Kinda reminds of that television show, Most Shocking Moments where the bank robber runs in without a mask and leaves his wallet on the counter as he hops in to a nearby cab for his escape. There are dumber things to do.
However, the question came up when a Realtor purposed obtaining power of attorney over her best friend of 35 years on the sale of her home. There are no siblings, kids or parents which is why this Realtor thinks getting POA on behalf of her friend is likely the best thing to do.
What's your response? If your best friend was leaving the country for months would you concede to this request? Afterall, you did stay a Holiday Inn Express last night.
