Increase in Texas Veterans Land Loan Program

Until recently, Texas Veterans were eligible to purchase at least an acre of land and have it financed by the Texas Veteran Land Board. Effective December 1, 2007, Texas Veterans Land Board will finance up to $80,000 (previously $60,000) for at least an acre of land.

For those wanting to take advantage of these benefits, I recommend that you are patient because the process takes 60 days. When my husband and I used our benefits, it took closer to 90 days but the process has been streamlined.

Be prepared to put down 5% of the sales price. A $75 Contract Service Fee and $250 Appraisal fee are due up front.

Now is a great time to purchase land because "They just aren't making anymore!"
