Summer is here! This is perfect weather to be out at the lake.

In the Bryan/College Station area, we are fortunate to be within an easy driving distance of Lake Sommerville.
From College Station, it takes maybe 45 minutes to get to Rocky Creek or Birch Creek. Growing up, our family spent many summers there - boating and camping. Since my dad was into water skiing, we didn't do that much fishing unless my grandparents were around.
According to a brochure that I found, Lake Sommerville is a multi-use 11,400 acre lake. There are places for fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, picnicking, trail riding and sightseeing. There are both electrical and non-electrical campsites, including equestrian sites.
If you live in the area and haven't been, I encourage you to visit Lake Sommerville. From College Station, go west on Highway 60. When you get to Highway 36, turn to the left and then take a left back on Highway 60 again - to get to Birch Creek. OR, at Highway 36, turn right and go into Sommerville - the town. There will be signs to guide you to Rocky Creek and Welch Park. It is easy to find. Have fun!
