Whoa, it's almost 5:00 pm here in Huntsville Texas and our electricity just went out. Our heat index today is supposed to be up to 106 degrees. It is totally miserable. I've closed all the drapes and blinds to attempt to conserve cool air. I just finished reading Adam Waldman's Goodbye to his father and I'm feeling lonely, as I am alone and a bit apprehensive about this possible problem with the electricity.
A hurricane is on its way and I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully it will downgrade to a Tropical Storm. It should hit the coast at Galveston, TX. We are north of Galveston by 150 miles and like when Rita came through we still get the destructive bands that go with it. I imagine it has to do with the power being overworked altogether in our area with this heat wave. Thank heavens for notebook computers that will give me a titch more time to write. I can't get the Internet of course without the power so here I sit.
I will have to fill you in on what it was like with hurricane Rita...yuk. Talk about the heat. We were without power for six days running in the muggiest heat wave on record. The carpet in my home buckled from the heat and the humidity.
This is just a glimpse of a reminder at how bad that was!
Stay cool...take care and I hope to be back later.
Later in the rain~Deb
