Texas Voter Registration Form

Eligibility for Voter Registration(a) To be eligible for registration as a voter in this state, a person must:

  • be 18 years of age or older*;
  • be a United States citizen;
  • not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court;
  • not have been finally convicted of a felony (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole); and
  • be a resident of the county in which application for registration is made.

*To be eligible to apply for registration, a person must, on the date the registration application is submitted to the registrar, be at least 17 years and 10 months of age and satisfy the requirements of Subsection (a), except for age.

Eligibility for Voting

A person must be registered at least 30 days prior to Election Day. After you become registered, you will remain on the county registration rolls as long as you do not move or change your mailing address.

Changing Residence or Other Information

  • If you have moved from one county to another, you must re-register. Complete an application and mail it or take it in person to the voter registrar of your new county.
  • If you have moved within the county, return the old certificate to the Voter Registrar supplying the new information on the back. If the certificate is not available, you may submit the change by writing a letter.
  • If the Post Office or the County 911 Coordinator changed your address, you must submit that change of address to our office.

Certificate Never Received

Pursuant to state law, new Voter Registration Certificates are mailed to all registered voters every two years. (November 16 through December 6 of every odd year) Any certificate with an incorrect address will be returned to the Voter Registration Office. Any new or changed certificate will be mailed to the voter within 30 days after receipt of a proper request.
