Where are you in the 'Rain? (Thanks to Mirela Monte, I now know)

Mirela posted a piece on where the top folks are in points in the 'Rain.

Got me to thinking about where I stand.

1st placeAnd I was pleasantly surprised that I have already achieved a top marketing goal: To be top in my market segment.

There are thousands upon thousands of agents and brokers in the 'Rain.

Not only am I a broker, I'm also a builder and to further narrow things down, a builder of super-efficient green homes in Texas.

So, taking Mirala's lead, I checked out all the builders here in AR land and found a not so surprising picture:

Of all the states, only five have builders with a point count of greater than 20K. Here's the rankings:

  1. North Carolina: 127632, second was 6659
  2. Indiana: 83340, second was 3311
  3. Wisconsin: 24835
  4. Texas: 24021, second is ME: 19824
  5. Alaska: 21324

That puts me at #6 in the builder category, but #1 in the "Green" homes category. The reason this was not surprising to me is that after years in this business, I have come across many builders who were good at building homes, but didn't have a clue when it came to marketing.

So, I guess when I stepped up and claimed the title of "Home Building Guru in Residence", it was for real.

The point of all this? That its all about marketing and marketing is all about position in your prospects' mind.

If you can't be number one in a crowded field, then create your own market segment and be the leader in that area.

So where are you in the 'Rain? Top of your segment, or just all wet?
