This is not auctioning distressed properties or using an auctioneer to conduct a live auction.
This is a technique that is being used by investors that are wanting to sell a property quickly for the best money they can. With about 10 days worth of intensive advertising to get the interest up, you hold a reserve auction sale to see what the current market price is.
I've seen several agents talk about conducting an auction through MLS. I don't believe it is the same thing.
Another technique that can work well with the right property situation is to provide seller financing and then flipping the note after its been seasoned a few months.
Both of these techniques have proven effective when properly conducted.
