Here's a story that I want to share. A few weeks ago I had a closing on a VA loan where the husband was in Afghanistan at the time of closing. The wife had flowin in from San Francisco in September for a weekend and we found the perfect home in the Hills at Paloma Lake. Just before the scheduled closing date the wife had a car accident and injured her shoulder. Rather than risk losing the home, we did a mail-out closing. All sorts of things happened. The underwriter didn't like her signature because it didn't look like her "normal" signature, then they didn't like how she was signing. So the closing package was done and then redone to deal with these issues. Meanwhile my client was in pain and her husband was thousands of miles away.
It's now 3 weeks later and my client needed surgery to repair her shoulder. That happened the other day in San Francisco. The U.S. Army sent the husband home to be with his wife. The surgery went fine. After being discharged from the hospital the drove here to Texas and arrived here last night. I had the keys to their house. It was 9:00 P.M. when they pulled in and we were there waitng for them. I hugged everyone and handed over the keys to the home. ( They have 2 small boys)
My husband and I told them that they needed to be the first to open the door and they agreed. It had been a long drive for them. We waited for the door to open and the lights to flip on and then we slowly drove away. We passed the outside of the rear of the home on our way out of the subdivision and I could see all of them upstairs with the children in one of the bedrooms. I could almost hear the excitement in that view. It was palpable! I was excited for them and proud of the fact that I had helped someone achieve their dream. They bought a home.
