Iron Man at the Siverado 19 Theatre in Tomball TX

Iron Man at the Siverado TheatreA few weeks ago we had a rainy Monday and our daughter was in town visiting so I took the afternoon off and we went to the new Silverado 19 screen Theatre in Tomballto see Iron Man.  This was my first time to visit the new Silverado Theater and I LOVED IT.  The screen was huge and the picture and sound were phenomenal.

We were going to lunch first and checked show-times before we went and Iron Man was running every 15 minutes.  I guess with 19 Theatres it gives them a lot of options for a popular movie.  We arrived just a few minutes before the show was to start and my daughter thought we should see the one that started 15 minutes later as she always wants a good seat.  The gentleman at the ticket office checked and saw that we had 260 seats still available so we didn't even have to wait.  As it turned out when we walked in the theatre there were only two other people in there.  A few more did show up before the show started but not many.  I guess a rainy Monday isn't a very popular time to go to the movie.

I don't go to many movies and only went to this one because my daughter wanted to.   It was a REALLY fun super hero movie!!  I sometimes have problems with a movie that is just so far out it couldn't be real.  Even though this one was far out it wasn't so far out that it didn't seem feasible; not in today's world anyway.   It was your fun good against evil movie.  Robert Downey Jr. was a great Iron Man and Gwyneth Paltrow was his able assistant (with a little chemistry going on).  I did not recognize a bald Jeff Bridges until my daughter whispered to me who it was.

It is rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action, violence and a sexual scene. There was really only one sexual scene and no total nudity.  To be quite honest they could have left that scene out of the movie and not have changed the plot a bit but that's the movies for you. It was a fun movie and I would highly recommend going to see it.

My daughter is back in town again and we are off to the Silverado again to see the New Chronicles of Narnia movie.  I have read the Chronicles of Narnia 4 times so I will know if they stay true to the story.  I am excited about seeing it at the Siverado Theatre as WE LOVE THAT THEATRE!!

I am attaching the trailer for Iron Man.  Like I said it was a REALLY fun movie.

Hello Marchel,
I only go to the kiddie G rated movies these day.  Let's see the last one we saw was Veggietales, talk about far fetched..................talking vegetables.  But the my little liked it so that is all that is important. :0)

Marchel - Glad you had fun going to the movie with your daughter. I am not much of a movie goer, I usually fall asleep.  Can you believe I slept through the Star Wars Movie? I seem to do much better with documentaries.

I love going to the movies, just no time to do that. Glad you had a good time. We should do this more often.

I have not seen it yet, but my hubby is anxious to see it. We'll have to go see it since you are giving it such a great review. GBU!!

CYNTHIA, I missed Veggie Tails as my children were too old when it came around but it sounds like your little one likes it.

JENNIFER, I have never met someone who could sleep through Star Wars.  I remember waiting in a long line to see the original Star Wars; quite some time ago.

RICKI, If you don't see this at the box office you will want to check it out when it makes it to DVD.

ELIZABETH, It is full of action your husband will love it.  My husband does not have the attention span for a slow movie but I know that he will like this one.

That's a great flick. I don't remember having that much fun at a 'popcorn movie' ever. I really do wish it didn't have the sexy bits...it's that one thing that's keeping me from enjoying the film with my kids.

Great idea to feature the local theater. I'm totally addicted to movies.

Marchel--We have a favorite theater too...been there every weekend as there are some great shows out now...more coming up soon too. We saw Ironman, Narnia, (you will love it), SpeedRacer and today we went to Indiana Jones. All were very good shows...Speed Racer was a very fun pleasant surprise as my kids are older and we all enjoyed it. Can you tell my family loves movies?

Marchel, I saw Ironman the first weekend and loved it. Saw the new Indiana Jones movie today and it was ok with all the action but Ironman was better.

Thanks for the tip on the movie. Our family doesn't go see many movies either. But occasionally, I get mooshy and want to go out with the kids to see a good wholesome movie. Right now, I'll pass on Ironman. I appreciate your review. Have a great sunday. Lu

JOEY, I thought it was a great flick also.  When my daughter dragged me to it I was thinking here we go again.  Sometimes she has dragged me to some goofy stuff but this time I loved it.

If they had left that one scene at the beginning out it would have been appropriate for any age.  I don't even think that scene contributed much except for Gweneth saying she even took out his trash; which was a pretty cute line but it seems like they could have worked it in some other way.

TERI, we went to Narnia and you were right I loved it.  Again they could have kept that romantic scene at the end out of it and it would have been okay with me.  I guess I'm a purist and that WAS NOT in the original story.

I will have to check Speed Racer out when it makes it to DVD.  I would like to see Indiana Jones though as I loved the others; well except for the one where they took the guys heart.

GARY, I was so surprised at how much I liked Iron Man.  It is probably good that you prepared me for Indiana Jones as it sounds like I might have been a little disappointed.  It's not one my daughter is clambering to see so we will probably wait for it to come out on DVD.

LU, If my children were young I would probably pass on Ironman because of that one scene.  I was a protective Mom though.  Then they get to the age where they see it at their friends house so at some point you lose some of that control but the longer you can protect them I think the better.

I'm looking forward to maybe seeing the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian movie real soon. Your blog reminded me of that. Thank you for your continued responses to my blogs. Your blogs are great. Lu

LU, It was great.  Have you read the books?  I have read them 4 times; my daughter who was with me has read them more than me.  They stayed fairly true to the story; they added a tiny bit of romance but nothing your little ones couldn't see.

Marchel, we usually go to the dollar theatre only because we don't make the time when the movie hits the theatre. There are a few I want to see, the latest Narnia among them.

DEBBIE, I highly recommend this movie and the Narnia movie.  I have yet to see the new Indiana Jones but I heard that Ironman was better.
