49th Annual Azalea and Spring Flower Trail.....Tyler, Texas

Spring has sprung in Tyler, Texas! This weekend starts the 49th annual Azalea and Spring Flower Trail. This is a great time of year because all the flowers are starting to bloom and everything is coming alive! The center of Tyler becomes the focal point of East Texas. The Azalea Trail is located in the part of Tyler known as the Azalea District. It's a area of Tyler that has real red brick streets. Most of the homes were built in the early 1900's. Some are Craftman's, while others have a Victorian flair. But all the homes have huge Azalea bushes with gorgeous pink and white flowers. People come from all over to view these homes and flowers. This year the city of Tyler is predicting 110,000 visitors! As you drive to Tyler from the DFW area you will begin to see the beautiful flowers just as you enter the area east of Canton.

Some of the activities that come along with the Azalea Trails are as follows:

Events for March 27-30

  • Tyler Azalea 10K, 8 a.m. Sunday, Bergfeld Park. Bergfield Park is located in the center of the Azalea District.

  • Main Street Flower Market, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Goodman Museum grounds, 624 N. Broadway Ave.
  • A Quilt Show presented by the Quilters Guild of East Texas. 10am - 5pm Friday and Saturday at Harvey Convention Center. Tickets are 6 dollars.
  • Spirits of Oakwood Walking History Tour. 1 to 6pm on Saturday. Corner of Palace and Oakwood. 5 dollars. I did this last year and it was awesome! It takes about 1 1/2 hours.
