I Survived The Circle

burgers

If you live in Texas and run to Waco or Dallas straight up I-35, you must stop and experience a retro greasy spoon called the Health Camp!

To get caught in the circle in Waco, Texas is like a rat in a maze! Use the Elite Restaurant sign to get there. Pass the McDonalds or any other burger joint and kill your diet and enjoy every minute of it!burgers

They even have a BYOB .... bring your own banana and they will make you a banana split for 99 cents!

Burgers, Fries and Old-Fashioned Shakes....greatest food around!

It is a tradition with my husband, Gene, when traveling from Austin to Dallas to make this pit stop!

Dorie, this place is one of our favorites around here . Many other people must feel the same as Heatlh Camp seems to always be crowded.  They have the best shakes ever and great burgers and fries. Reminds me of when I was growing up.  GREAT POST!

Gary,

You will have to check this place out..be ready to skid off your diet of healthy food!!

Wendy,

It's easy to find once you have been there! Trying to find it the first time is an adventure! The name is hysterical considering what you are eating!

Dorie - Our tradition is to eat at the nearby Elite Cafe (which I saw that you mentioned here).  Maybe I'll try this place sometime when we're in Waco!

Dorie, you are right, the name is so funny. I thought, OH  a nice healthfood store when I first moved to Waco.  WRONG!  Ha, but it is a wonderful treat.

Which exit is it as I've never noticed it before.  I'll make sure to bring a banana when I make the trip in a couple of weeks.

Donna,

If you are going from Austin to Dallas get off in Waco @ North Valley Mills Dr. There is the roundabout..look for the Elite Restaurant (has a big sign) and Health Camp is right next to it!

That sounds like my kind of burger joint. I do miss the burger joints in Texas. They seem to be like no where else in the world.

Russel,

They are greasy spoons but every so often it is good to indulge!
