This is a tongue in cheek post, so please do not take offense! Yesterday, Darcy and I took our niece to McCarren Airport in Las Vegas so that she could fly to Iowa to visit her Uncle for a couple of weeks. After we got her on the plane we drove around for awhile and ended up at the Forum Shops in Caesars Palace. We found a wonderful Sports Memorabilia store, I don't remember what the name is. They have some great stuff. As I looked at Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker's autographs I thought of some things that I will never see.
1. Someone hit safely in 57 or more Major League games. Joe Di Maggio's 56 game record will remain intact.
2. Someone win 512 Major League games as Pitcher. Too many 5 man rotations and specialists, we may not see another 300 game winner which is sad.
3. Some hit .400 or better for the season in the Major Leagues, again too many specialist pitchers.
4. Some one strike out 5715 Major Leauge batters, see above for Pitchers.
5. The Chicago Cubs win the World Series, no matter how much I would like to see it happen. Three times teams that didn't exist when I graduated High School in 1982 have one the World Series(the Florida Marlins twice and the Arizona Diamondbacks.), 2 others have played for it (Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays). The Cubs haven't been in a World Series since the year World War II ended.
6. The construction projects on Interstate 15 in the Las Vegas area come to an end. It's been at least 11 years and counting.
Again, this is tongue and cheek, some of it to vent frustration, driving I15 in Las Vegas, and watching what was supposed to be the best Cubs team in decades fade out to injuries.
